About

Thilinda Edirisooriya is a Lecturer attached to the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering from 2022. He obtained his BSc. Eng. degree in Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka with First Class Honours and highest OGPA in the department in 2019. For that, he was awarded the Dr. A.D.V. Premaratne Memorial Gold Medal at the convocation in 2019. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Engineers in Sri Lanka.

He taught in the same department as an instructor before switching to the role of lecturer, and before that, he worked at Uva Wellassa University as a lecturer and a visiting lecturer. Working as an Operation Engineer for Wavenet International (Pvt.) Ltd. in Sri Lanka has given him more experience in the industrial world.

His participation in several contests, including those in robotics, hackathons, and electronics throughout his undergraduate studies has led to numerous national accomplishments, including competition winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up in 2017 and 2018. He held the title of chairperson of the Electronic Circle in EIES 2018.

Contributions and Awards

Local Contributions

  • Developed Markit, a software tool to mark softcopies of answer scripts that can reduce the time spent for paper marking for the University of Ruhuna. Conducted an awareness session about the software tool developed to mark softcopies of the answer scripts for a widespread audience including public and private sector academia, students, non-academics, and industry professionals at the monthly seminar of TEAL2.0 project dissemination activities organized by the project management team of the University of Peradeniya. Sri Lanka. The TEAL2.O project is implemented by a consortium of 11 universities from Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Italy, Norway, and Romania, joined by a private company from Bulgaria, which is funded by the European Union. The session was titled “Markit – A Simple Tool to Assist Marking Soft Copies of Answer Scripts”.
