Abstract:
Interior type Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMSMs) are getting popular to use in many motion control applications. High efficiency and their compact design are the main reasons to attract them for motion control applications. Those applications vary in a wide spectrum from domestic applications to advanced industrial applications. Recently, they have been applied successfully in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles to operate both in motor and generator mode. The objective of this project is to develop a controller for an IPMSM so that it can control the speed and the torque precisely. Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) is used as the power electronic converter to supply the suitable voltage to the IPMSM. All control functions should be implemented in a micro-controller incorporating suitable sensors. A prototype IPMSM drive system will be developed in the laboratory incorporating a VSI, microcontroller and suitable sensors.
Abstract:
In order to suppress the intermittency of renewable sources integrated into an AC microgrid, the current trend is to embed an energy storage with innovative power flow controller with the intermittent renewable source. In this context, multilevel inverters (MLI) are getting increasing popularity rather than conventional two-level inverters as the power electronic interface due to many merits associated with MLIs. This work designs and implements the control system of the 1 kW grid integrated energy storage with a three-phase three-level multilevel inverter for controllable power injection using current mode control. The proposed system consists of a three-phase three-level MLI connected to a battery pack through a DC-DC converter and injects controllable active and reactive power to the grid. All control functions wiil be implemented in a micro-controller incorporating suitable sensors. A prototype power flow controller will be developed in the laboratory incorporating the MLI, microcontroller and suitable sensors.
Abstract:
The induction heating is getting more attention in industrial and domestic applications since it is clean, quick and efficient. The power electronic converter in the induction heating system plays an important role for controlling the voltages and currents with suitable frequency. The efficiency of the power electronic converter is also very important and the techniques are available to improve the efficiency. This project’s objective is to design and implement an induction heating system with an efficient power electronic converter. A prototype induction heating system should be developed in the laboratory incorporating a microcontroller and suitable sensors.

This project is a biomedical research-based project. There are basically two stages of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) as non-proliferative DR and proliferative DR. When a person is suffering from early stages of DR the patient cannot identify any difference in vision. But when it develops to proliferative DR, the person can experience a difference in vision. At this stage, no treatments can be done because retinal tissues are highly damaged. But if the disease is diagnosed at early stages the vision loss can be prevented.
